Abstract

575,356. Upsetting and stretching machines. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT Ltd., and CHARLTON, A. H. March 11, 1944, No. 4572. [Class 83 (iv)] In upsetting or stretching machines of the kind described in Specification 256,962, [Class 83 (iv)], for curving profiled strip metal, the jaws 1, 1a, 2 and 2a are each supported by a flexible rod 7 which serves to hold its jaw in contact with the cam surface 5, 5a, 6 or 6a. The upper and lower rods 7 are carried by blocks 12, 13 mounted on the moving head 14 and fixed base 15 respectively. The machine shown is for upsetting and spreading of the jaws as limited by plates 17.
