Abstract
575,336. Producing metallic zinc. PRYTHERCH, W. E., and GROSS, P. Dec. 19, 1944, No. 1240. [Class 82 (i)] A process for the extraction of metallic zinc from zinc sulphide ores comprises heating the zinc sulphide material, preferably under subnormal pressure, to above the volatilizing temperature of the zinc sulphide and passing the evolved vapours over iron swarf or turnings or the like maintained at a temperature of about 950‹ C. thereby to form zinc vapour, and condensing this vapour to metallic zinc.
