Abstract

574,950. Valve amplifying circuits. WATTON, W. L. Nov. 23, 1943, No. 19586. [Class 40 (v)] A thermionic valve amplifier having one or more stages 1, 2 of narrow band-width is provided with a further stage 3 capable of passing a substantially wider range of frequencies. The stage 3 is rendered periodically operative and inoperative by pulses applied from a source 4, and the pulses may, -if desired, be applied also to the stages 1, 2. High selectivity is provided by the stages 1, 2 and the stage 3 ensures rapid decay of the signal when the amplifier is rendered inoperative. The amplifier may be used in radio-location equipment, and may be applied to radio transmitters or receivers.
