Abstract

[Class 120 (i)] Mechanism for the application of card clothing to the cylinders of carding engines comprises a large worm gear 22 attachable to either end of a cylinder shaft, a worm gear 37 adapted to drive traversing means for a tension device T, and worms 34 and 36 on. a shaft 30 driven from a power driving unit consisting of a motor M, a speed-reducing gear box G, and a magnetic brake 54, all of which are mounted on a base plate 50 suspended from a shaft 62 by hangers 65. The shafts 42, 44 are relatively offset and in order that the mechanism may be mounted at either end of the cylinder shaft 10 the driving unit is adapted to be inverted.
