Abstract

Organic or inorganic pigments or dyestuffs, in the form of dry powder are fed into a stream of hot air or other gas saturated with vaporized oil, to form an aerosol which is thereafter cooled so that the oil passes from the gaseous phase into the liquid phase and condenses around the dust particles, which act as nuclei, to produce an aerosol in which the gaseous phase is air or other gas and the solid phase is the colouring matter with a liquid and adhesive shell of the oil around it. In a modification, the dry powder is fed into a stream of hot air or other gas which is then saturated with vaporized oil. Specified oils are kerosine, gas oil and light lubricating oil.ALSO:In a process for the manufacture of an insecticidal or fungicidal adhesive dust, dry powder is fed into a stream of hot air or other gas saturated with vaporised oil, to form an aerosol which is thereafter cooled so that the oil passes from the gaseous phase into the liquid phase and condenses around the dust particles, which act as nuclei, to produce an aerosol in which the gaseous phase is air or other gas and the solid phase is an insecticidal or fungicidal powder with a liquid and adhesive shell of the oil around it. In a modification, the dry powder is fed into a stream of hot air or other gas which is then saturated with vaporised oil. Specified oils are kerosine, gas oil and light lubricating oil, and specified powders are derris dust, calcium arsenate, lead arsenate, nicotine sulphate and pyrethrum powder. As soon as the aerosol is cooled, it is discharged directly on to the surface to be treated or painted. U.S.A. Specification No. 1,979,380 is referred to.
