Abstract

Natural or synthetic rubber, guttapercha and balata are plasticized by means of naphthenic acid or a metal or ammonium salt thereof, e.g. zinc naphthenate, or a substance or substances capable of forming these. The acid or salt may be applied to the surface and allowed to diffuse into the rubber with or without heating.
