Abstract

The apparatus described is identical with that described in Specification 572,515 and the invention is directed to a single refuser element cooperating with a tobacco feed drum to remove excess tobacco therefrom, the element being given repeated forward and backward movements in the same direction as and in the opposite direction to the direction of advance of the feed drum and the movements being in timed relation to the motion of the drum so that all the tobacco fed by the drum is subjected to two or more refusing operations. The same portion of the refusing element performs these repeated operations.
