570,605. Indicating lamp failure. STERN, W. Nov. 20, 1943, No. 19439. [Class 118 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In means for giving an indication of the failure of a lamp 1 of the kind wherein the circuit of a second lamp 2 in parallel therewith is provided with relay contacts operated by a relay 9 in series with the first lamp so that both circuits are not completed simultaneously, the impedances of the two circuits are different and the currents operate an ammeter 8, preferably at a remote point adjacent the control switch 7, differentially. The current in the circuit of the lamp 2 is preferably the larger and the ammeter may be arranged to give a nil reading when the lamp 1 is lighted. In place of the ammeter a relay operating a visible or audible signal and responsive only to the bigger current may be provided and the lamp 2 may be replaced by or augmented by a visible or audible signal. Means for compensating for voltage variations in the system may be provided. Specification 550,135, [Group XXXVI], is referred to.
