Abstract
569,105. High-vacuum distillation apparatus; film evaporators. DISTILLATION PRODUCTS, Inc. March 2, 1943, No. 3393. Convention date, June 1, 1942. [Class 32] High-vacuum distillation apparatus comprises a closed still 6 with opposed distillation and condensing' surfaces 18, 10 and a plurality of radial vanes arranged therebetween obliquely in respect to the vaporizing surface and with a relative rotary movement thereto. The rotary vaporizing plate is provided with a centrally formed cup 20 to which the liquid to be vaporized is fed through line 36, unevaporated liquid being flung into a gutter 30 and removed through pipe 32. The vapours pass upwardly through the rotating vanes which are so positioned and move in such direction that the edges of the vanes nearest the vaporizing surfaces are the leading edges in respect to the direction of rotation. Vapours are thus condensed on the side of the vanes remote from the vaporizing surface and the condensate is flung into the space between the flanges 50, 52 and withdrawn through conduit 54. The residual vapours are then condensed on the surface 10 and collected in gutter 56. In the modified form of still shown in Fig. 4, a plurality of fixed vanes 112, 114, 116, 118 are arranged obliquely in respect to the vaporizing surface 18 and are provided with rotating members 96, 98, 100therebetween. The members comprise obliquely arranged vanes 108, Fig. 6, connected to a central hub 102 provided with perforations 110 which lead condensate from one vane to another.
