567,941. Emulsions. DODD, H., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES. Ltd. Oct. 9, 1942, No. 14184. [Class 1 (i)] Aqueous emulsions of non-volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons, such as rubber, paraffin wax, and naphthalene, are made by dispersing the substance, or a solution of it in a non-film forming solvent, in water, with the aid of an alkali metal salt of a lower alkyl cellulosic acid as emulsifying agent. For example, a bonding composition is made by emulsifying a mixture of 1 part of chlorinated rubber or chlorinated polyvinyl chloride and 0.5-1.5 parts of chlorinated paraffin wax, the product containing 50 per cent of water. A flameproofing impregnating agent for textiles comprises an emulsion of chlorinated naphthalene dissolved in trichlorethylene. Specification 414,072 is referred to.
