Abstract
567,570. Converting. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER, E. Dec. 15, 1941, No. 16168. [Class 38 (ii)] In a polyphase converter employing an interphase transformer 7, a condenser 9'is associated with the latter to form therewith a parallel resonance circuit tuned to at least one of the frequencies to which it is subjected. Thus, failure of the interphase transformer at light loads is prevented by magnetizing current compensation. A second condenser 10, Fig. 2, shunted by an inductance is provided so that the combination is resonant at the operating frequency of the interphase transformer and also at a harmonic thereof. In a further modification, a condenser is connected across a winding separate from but on the same core as the interphase transformer and an air gap is provided in the core where it is embraced by the winding across which the condenser is connected.
