Abstract

567,309. Sliding windows and doors. TURNER, R. Aug. 4, 1943, No. 12582. [Class 20 (iii)] In a sliding window 6 or door having rollers 3 running on the webs of upper and lower T girders 1, 2, a portion 2b of the lower track is made removable so that the window or door may be removed from its frame. The tracks are normally obscured by outer frame sections, but a portion of the lower frame section may be removed when necessary. The lower frame section comprises three aligned bars 14a, b, c secured by bolts and angle brackets to the flange of the lower girder 2. A sill fillet 19 and drip bar 21 are secured to the central bar 14b and a distance piece 23 is positioned between the bar 14b and the removable portion 2b of the lower girder, packing or other strips 14b, 23a being inserted. The strip 23a overlies the ends of the stationary portion of the lower girder and is screwed thereto. A weather strip 50 is secured to the lower edge of the window. The window is held in any desired position by spring-pressed normally retractable rods 36 engaging apertures 35 in metal strips 34 secured to upper and lower frame bars 30, 31.
