[Class 20 (i)] Top fittings or cross-arms on poles, for carrying overhead lines, are carried by a single channel member l which is bolted to the pole with the web outwards so that the edges of the flanges are in gripping engagement with the pole. A cross-arm a of tubular section is flattened at the ends to provide seatings for insulators d which are secured to the cross-arm by nuts and bolts e passing through the insulators and through distance tubes within the flattened ends of the cross-arm. The crossarms are sealed at the ends by welded &c. plates f to render the cross-arms weathertight. The cross-arms are carried by brackets p welded or otherwise fixed to the sides of the channel member l, the brackets having semicircular seats on to which the cross-arms are welded. The channel member may be extended upwardly and provided with a top plate r to form a seating for a third insulator s. For six overhead lines, three cross-arms are employed, each with its own channel bracket mounting. Where H-type poles are concerned, the crossarms each have two spaced channel brackets to engage the poles.
