Abstract

564,787. Bookbinding; mercantile forms ; postcards. WILLIAMS, W. P. (Standard Register Co.). June 30, 1943, No. 10634. [Classes 16 and 146 (ii)] Postcards and record sheets or cards having printed matter on both sides are made by printing upon a doublewidth web, folding it longitudinally so that printed matter appears on both faces, adhesively uniting the superposed parts of the web to form a two-ply strip, and cutting the strip into individual cards or sheets. The web 2, Fig. 1, has transverse weakening-lines 6 dividing it into cards, and may have longitudinal weakening-lines 7 for forming separable coupons on the cards. The web preferably has marginal and medial perforations 9, 10 for feeding it through a machine for writing or printing account data, addresses, &c. After folding, as shown in Fig. 2, the adhesive-coated surfaces are caused to adhere by heated rollers &c., and the perforations on the two parts of the web are thus brought into register. The perforated margins may be cut off before the strip is separated into cards. The web may be folded into three plies, instead of two, or separate printed webs may be caused to adhere together back to back.
