564,683. Sampling liquids. MITCHELL, R. G., HUNN, S. A., and EAGLE OIL & SHIPPING CO., Ltd. Aug. 16, 1943, No. 13269. [Class 106 (v)] A device for sampling liquid at the bottom of a tank comprises an inner cylinder divided into compartments and sliding relatively to an outer cylinder, both cylinders being provided with ports which register when the device rests on the bottom of the tank, but are out of register when the device is suspended. The outer cylinder 1, provided with ports 3, is pro vided with feet 9 and is suspended by links 17 connected by a fulcrum pin 16 sliding in slotted members 14. The inner cylinder 2, having ports 4, is divided into compartments, the lowest com partment enclosing a weight 8 and is suspended from the pir 16 by a link 10. The links 17 are connected by cords 18 to a suspending cord 23. A remov able locking pin 25 retains the inner cylinder in its raised posi tion after the sample has beer taken and the inner cylinder is provided with short feet 26 to limit its downward traverse.
