[Class 100 (ii)] [Also in Groups VIII and XL] A sheet adapted to be converted into a stencil by the passage therethrough of electric currents, comprises a fibrous base of open porous character, such as Yoshino paper, impregnated with a plastic composition adapted to be displaced by the current to expose the base and having dispersed therein an electrically conducting material, e.g. carbon or metal powder. The impregnating compound may be a cellulose derivative such as cellulose acetate or cellulose nitrate, waxy materials such as paraffin or diglycol stearate, natural or synthetic resins or gums, such as shellac, rosin, ester gum, cumar, or dammar, or water swelling colloids such as starch, gelatin, pectin or gum tragacanth, with the addition of plasticisers to render the compound plastic at ordinary room temperatures. Suitable plasticisers are triphenyl phosphate, triacetin, castor oil, tricresyl phosphate, dibutyl phthalate, dibutyl tartrate, and butyl lactate. The sheet may be used in the receiver of a copying telegraph apparatus, or may be laid on a flat metal plate and written upon by an electric pencil. Specification 417,958 and U.S.A.
