563,958. Machinery guards. KENT, A.F. March 22, 1943, No. 4594. [Class 80 (iv)] Guards for wood planing, moulding and like rotary cutter machines comprise a frame with triangular ends k between which are mounted rollers a, b on opposite sides of the cutter. Bars l close the gaps between the rollers and are fixed to the ends k. A third roller c may be fitted to facilitate return of the work piece j over the guard. A sheet metal apron may be fitted to the outer end k to cover the cutter when the guard is thrust close to the machine fence. The guard is carried by a parallel motion linkage consisting of two bars d, e bent to form three sides of a rectangle, one of the sides passing through the machine frame at f, g and forming a pivot. The side passing through g may slide through a loose sleeve o mounted between the two webs of the machine frame and adapted to be clamped to the bar e by a set-screw p.
