[Classes 80 (ii) and 80 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXI and XXXI] A mechanical relay for driving a gun turret turntable 14, Fig. 1, includes a variable-speed friction gear comprising a disc 71 driven by an electric motor 52 and variably driving a roller 63 through a pair of superposed balls 64 in a cage traversed radially across the face of the disc. This adjustment is effected by rotating a handle 23, Fig. 5, which through plungers 106, 104 and ball transmissions 103 moves a rack 89 to move through sector gear 92 a cam 84 controlling a lever 77 connected to the ball device.
