Abstract

563,186. Silencers. VOKES, C. G. Dec. 28, 1942, No. 18411. [Class 7 (ii)] An air intake silencer and filter comprises flat walls of substantial thickness of felt 4 or other sound-deadening material through which air passages are formed, the passages being filled with removable filters 7. The passages lead to a central chamber, the remaining walls of which are insulated and which has an elongated outlet 2 to the cylinders of an engine. The filters consist of wires, bristles, &c. and are mounted in pairs on wires 8, rows of which are connected by wires 9 to permit simultaneous removal.
