Abstract

563,036. Mine props. EADIE, J. Jan. 23, 1943, No. 1199. [Class 20 (ii)] A pit-prop of the type comprising axially aligned members B formed with inclined abutting faces and a sleeve C surrounding the joint to maintain the prop in erected position, has the sleeve of larger diameter than the prop and provided with a side recess E having an inclined base into which the upper prop member can slide when the sleeve is lowered. The sleeve is maintained in its upper position by a pin F, and the parts of the prop are loosely joined together by pins or studs in the sleeve engaging the channels of the H -section members constituting the prop members.
