Abstract

<PICT:0562587/IV/1> <PICT:0562587/IV/2> A domestic bath is characterised by a one-piece body, moulded from synthetic thermosetting resinous material, e.g. as sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Bakelite," and having integral external supporting and strengthening projections 7 extending below the base of the bath to form feet 6. The bath may have an integral flange 4 in which a strengthening rod or wire 5 may be embedded. The feet 6 may also be internally strengthened with wire or rod. The struts 7 are preferably spanned by transverse strengthening webs 8. Additional strengthening ribs 17 may also be formed with the bath and one or more longitudinal ribs may also be moulded integrally with the base. The base 1 is thicker than the side walls 2 and end walls 3. Flanged metal rings 9 embedded in the moulding enable pipes and faucets to be fitted, and the struts 7 may have embedded metal bushes 10, threaded to receive screws passing through side panels. These panels carry proud portions 14 which carry bushes to receive securing screws for end panels 13. The side and end panels are preferably of the same material as the bath.
