Abstract
561,865. Gear - cutting. PARSONS MARINE STEAM TURBINE CO., Ltd., COOK, S. S., and DOUGLAS, L. M. Oct. 2, 1942, No. 13869. [Class 83 (iii)] A gear-cutting machine having an eccentrically-mounted creep ring a driving a master wheel f on the work table as described in Specification 9483/13 for the purpose of distributing periodic errors in the gears has the creep ring driven by multi-stage spur reduction gearing o, p, g, other types of gearing such as the bevel gears m, n driving the'gears o being confined to the high-speed driving elements where they have a negligible effect on the accuracy of the work-table drive. The spur gears may be of single or double helical type arranged to give continuous tooth engagement and may be of involute or cycloidal form. The driving teeth may be all addendum and the driven teeth all dedendum. The creep drive mechanism may be of either of the types described respectively in Figs. 1-3, and Figs. 4 and 5 of Specification 9483/13, [Class 83 (iii)].
