561,744. Dental &c. equipment stands. PIEPER, O. H. Oct. 19, 1942, No. 14650. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1941. [Class 81 (ii)] A dental or like equipment stand comprises a housing 55 of hemispherical form attached to the frame of a motor. mounted for limited universal movement at the top of a column 15. The motor is carried in a ring 34 pivoted to arms 28 carried in a vertical bearing 23. A projecting lug 32 limits the rotational movement of the arms 28 about the bearing 23. The motor rotor 50 is provided with a pulley 51 to drive the tool 61 through the belt 52. The tool supporting arm 60 is attached to. an extension 57 of the housing 55 so that the housing and tool arm move together ; the extension 57 substantially enclosing the pulley 51. The weight of the tool arm, tending to turn the motor and housing, is counterbalanced by a spring 66 coiled about the horizontal axis of the pivot between the motor frame and an arm 28. Adjustable frictional resistance to motion about the horizontal pivotal axis of the motor frame is provided in the form of a split tapered collar 68 of fibre &c. pressed by a nut. A further lug 39 on the motor frame limits motion about the horizontal axis by contact with abutments 40. The motor housing is connected with the carrying frame through rubber &c. blocks to absorb vibrations.
