Abstract
561,603. Refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 1, 1943, No. 31. Convention date,-Jan. 8, 1942. [Class 29] A compartment or chamber for keeping butter, &c., relatively warm is fitted within the thickness of one of the side walls. of the cabinet, the insulation being reduced at the back of the compartment so that heat enters from the exterior of the cabinet at this part. The compartment 17 has a flange 21 overlapping the face flange 20 of an open rectangular frame 19, and is held in place in the frame by a spring 25 -at one upper corner which forces it into abutment against lugs 23 at the bottom of the frame and a top corner lug 24. A V-shaped wire spring 27 surrounds the compartment and is anchored by hollow rivets 28 to the frame at one end and is engaged with hooks 31 on the compartment wall and with loops 34 on the frame. The free end of the spring is inserted behind the edge of an opening in the cabinet liner 12 and the frame and compartment are secured to the liner at the other end by screws 35. A door 18 with a shelf 51 is provided for the compartment. Auxiliary electric heating elements 40, 41 may be clipped to the ends of the compartment and may be controlled by thermostat 44 mounted on a bracket, the heater and thermostat being separated from the compartment by a brass plate 49, which ensures action of the thermostat before the compartment is fully heated.
