Jan. 9, 1943, No. 467, [Class 86] [Also in Group III] A method of carrying out a chemical reaction or physical treatment of a kind which forms a precipitated product, in a vessel provided with agitating means, consists in continuously operating the agitating means and raising them during the course of the process so as to leave the precipitate substantially undisturbed while continuing the agitation of the overlying reagents and liquid or dissolved products. Stirring blades 4 constantly driven by a shaft 8 are suspended by cables 23 and raised when desired by a hand wheel 27 secured to a winch. A pawl is provided for holding the blades in their raised position. Specification 524,640 is referred to.
