560,950. Gun firing mechanism; muzzle shutters. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and LEVELL, A. May 13, 1941, No. 6189. [Class 92 (ii)] The firing of aircraft guns is precluded until a muzzle-shutter has been moved to open position by providing a controlling-lever e, Fig. 2, which must be operated to aet on a switch in an electric circuit that effects opening of the shutter before the firing button a can be actuated. In the form shown, the lever e has a cam for closing a circuit through the coil i, Fig. 4, of a relay switch j in a second circuit k including an electromagnet for operating a valve m in the pneumatic pipe line which serves to open the shutter u through a piston-andcylinder device o. If desired, further movement of the lever e may actuate a second switch to fire the gun. The invention is shown applied to a gun enclosed in a casing v extending from the aircraft wing w.
