Deleterious photo-chemical action on meat, fruit, vegetables, fish and dairy products, preparations containing vitamins, porphyrins and enzymes, latex, rubber and rubber products, tobacco and tobacco products, oils, fats and waxes is inhibited by shielding the commodity by a colour screen which is opaque to light having wave lengths between 6300 and 6700, and below 4900, Angstrom units but which will transmit substantially all other light. Malachite green, Monastrel green, Fast green (A-5832) or Chlorophyll pigment with a yellow dye or pigment such as " Azosol " fast yellow (ogga) can be used to produce the screen, which may comprise normally translucent or transparent materials such as glass, glassine, gelatine, casein, synthetic resins and plastics, paper, regenerated cellulose, cellulose esters, ethers or oxy-ethers, lacquered glass or regenerated cellulose or laminated glass or paper. The screens may be in various forms such as shields, plates, caps, tubing, bands, wrapping blanks, bags and containers such as bottles, cartons, boxes and packages, or linings for bags or containers.ALSO:Deleterious photo-chemical action on latex rubber and rubber products is inhibited by shielding the material by a colour screen which is opaque to light having wave lengths between 6300 and 6700, and below 4900, Angstrom units but which will transmit substantially all other light.
