Abstract

The rotors of a gear-wheel pump are cut from a block of thermosetting phenol-aldehyde resin, baked at a temperature within the range 330 DEG F. to 370 DEG F., with an optimum value of 350 DEG F., for a period of from one hundred to five hundred hours and, after cooling are machined to finished sizes. The period of baking in hours is given by the formula 131D0.75 where D is the outside diameter of the rotor in inches.
