Abstract

559,865. Goggles. TYNESIDE SAFETY GLASS CO., Ltd., and WILSON, P. I. Aug. 28, 1942, No. 12162 [Class 97 (i)] Screens for goggles and welders' shields comprise a sheet of a transparent organic material substantially absorbing all ultra-violet tight of wavelength below 4000 A.U., in combination with a transparent metallie surface partly, reflecting light from 4000 A.U. to 7000 A.U. and reflecting substantially all infra-red radiation of wavelengths above 7000 A.U.; the organic material way contain paranitroacetanilide. An embodiment of the screen may consist of a silvered glass sheet, and a plain glass sheet each secured by adhesive to a film or layer between them consisting of cellulose acetate containing a plastieizer and paranitro- acetanilide; a dye or colouring matter may be embodied in any component. In assembly, the glass sheets, coated with an adhesive composition containing cellulose acetate, and the organie film, may be brought together in a bath of dimethyl phthalate or other plasticizer, and, after assembly, removed from the bath and subjected to heat and pressure.
