559,773. Autographic registers. WILLIAMS, W. P. (Standard Register Co.). April 22, 1943, No. 6508. [Class 106 (i)] [Also in Groups XV and XVI] In autographic registers for writing upon a series of connected detachable forms, which can be fed back to the writing position for the alteration or addition of items, a pulling-device is provided for applying an initial retractive force to the strip of forms for taking up the slack in the retracted strip. A set of superposed strips 4 can be fed in either direction between a supplypacket 5 and a receiving-packet 6 by pin-wheel mechanism operated by a handle 13, the end wall 19<SP>1</SP> of the casing being hinged at its lower edge and carrying a guide roller 19, over which the strips pass. As the strips are wound back, the wall 19<SP>1</SP> falls and initially takes up the slack, so that the strips re-form on the fold lines. The wall 19<SP>1</SP> is retained in normal position by a lip on the top plate 2, which is lifted to release the wall before backward feeding is commenced.
