[Class 47 (ii)] A moniter or supporting device for branch pipes and nozzles of fire hose, of the kind which can be used on ladders or upon the ground, comprises a frame A formed in two parts a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> separated by a channel member a adapted, when required, to embrace the rung of a ladder, the ends a<SP>3</SP> of the parts a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> being reversely bent and provided with ground-engaging studs a<SP>4</SP> ; additional support is given by a pivoted extension a<SP>5</SP> similarly studded. To provide for a universal movement of the nozzle C there are two swivelling angle members C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP>, the former being mounted in a bracket 15 bolted to the channel member a, while the latter is mounted in a flange c<SP>1</SP> of the first angle member, and to prevent movement of the branch pipe, under pressure of the water, from the set position, a cam D<SP>1</SP> pivotally mounted on the end of a curved member a<SP>6</SP> bolted to the channel member a is adapted to be moved so that its edge d<SP>4</SP> engages the flange c<SP>1</SP>, in which position it is locked by tightening a nut d<SP>3</SP>. The pivot pin of the cam is adapted to engage one of two holes d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP>, in the member a' according to whether the monitor is used on the ground, or mounted on a ladder. To prevent swirling of the,water in the bend of the angle member C<SP>2</SP>, a plate F, Fig. 7, of the same curvature as the bend is inserted in or formed integrally with the angle member.
