Abstract

557,990. Centrifugal switches. REDIFFUSION, Ltd., (Gossling, C. E.). June 23. 1942, No. 8622. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXVI] A centrifugal device, e.g. for actuating an electric servomotor switch or for throttling a fluid supply to control the speed of a motor driving a dynamo comprises a chamber 1 containing mercury which mercury at speed displaces the rim of the chamber and straightens a dished plate 2 forming its wall. The wall may carry an electric contact plate 10. The chamber is secured to a rotary shaft 3 by nuts 4, 5 controlling a spring 6 which regulates the' speed at which operation is effected. Minor adjustment is made by a screw 16 acting through a spring 14. The spring 6 may be replaced by a peripheral spring.
