[Class 97 (i)] An eyepiece is arranged unsymmetrically with respect to the objectives of a coincidence rangefinder, images of the objective images, of equal size, being formed in a single field in the focal plane of the eyepiece by lens systems of different powers and by reflectors in at least one of the imaging systems. The Figure shows objectives 25, 26, producing equal images 34, 35, a lens 28 producing an erect image 36 of the image 34 in the focal plane of an eyepiece 27, and a lens 29, and mirrors 30, 31 producing an image, coincident with the image 36, of the image 35. The mirror 31 may be semi-transparent, or may cover only half the field to produce a split field. Coincidence may be produced by any means, for example by moving the lens 29 laterally, a pointer 40 on its mount indicating range on an adjacent scale 41.
