Abstract

556,171. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 27, 1942, No. 4109. Convention date, March 29, 1941. [Class 40 (v)] A frequency divider particularly for frequency or phase modulation receivers consists in an arrangement for heterodyning the input frequency with a frequency differing therefrom by the desired sub-multiple which is obtained by frequency multiplication from the desired sub-multiple and is so arranged that no output is produced in the absence of an input frequency. The Figure shows a frequency changer 4 fed with a signal which may be 4 Mc and a local oscillation which may be 5 Mc from a circuit 40, 41. The latter is obtained from the intermediate frequency which in this case is 1 Mc by frequency multiplication in the valve 20. The valve 20 may be biased near cut-off when the amplitude of the signal is below threshold value to obviate noise in the output and the network may in addition perform the function of a limiter. U.S.A. Specifications 2,064,106 and 2,230,231 are referred to.
