[Class 140] [Also in Group XXIII] Relates to a method of making strips or tapes of glass fibres which consist in forming a cylindrical sleeve by winding the fibres on a drum in layers running in opposite directions. After applying a binding medium to the fibres, the sleeve is cut into a continuous strip or tape by making a helical cut, as described in Specification 532,456. According to the present invention, the pitch of the helices composing the layers is such that the angle between the fibres in successive layers is between the limits of 0.2 degrees and 5 degrees 30 minutes.
