Abstract
553,347. Wheeled toys. WILSON, D. M. Nov. 12, 1941, Nos. 14593/41 and 5795/42. [Class Means for springing the axles of the wheels of a model vehicle, comprises at least one strip or member of resilient material which is either integral with, or is adapted to be rigidly attached to, the bottom part of the vehicle body or a vehicle chassis member or bearer as the case may be, the said strip or member forming or providing at least one resilient, overhanging or cantilever end part which projects forwardly or rearwardly of the part of the strip or member integral with, or attached to, the said bottom part of the chassis member or bearer and which is adapted to act as, or to support, an axle mounting, which is spaced forwardly or rearwardly from the mounting of the strip. The strips may be of celluloid or like substance, metal or wood and may be rectangular, I-shaped as in Fig. 6, U-shaped, as in Fig. 8, or H-shaped. One or both ends may be turned over to form a bearing for one or two axles, or the axle may be carried by wooden tubes secured e.g. by adhesive to the strip. The strips may form part of the vehicle body, or may be secured directly to the body,or again may be secured to bearers 44, which are themselves secured to the body. When the body portion is made from celluloid or other transparent substance, it is preferably process coloured, lined and printed on the inside so that the outside has a glossy and pleasing appearance.
