[Class 92 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A cannon or like piece of armament is suspended in a readily detachable manner beneath the wing of an aircraft to enable the wings to be folded, provision also being made for adjusting the line of fire relatively to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. The front end of the gun is mounted by a spherical bearing in a block 27 which can be traversed by a screw 29 within a frame 26. This frame has two lugs 30 with tapering inner surfaces adapted to engage corresponding surfaces on a bracket 21 secured beneath the plane a. The frame is detachably secured in position by two pairs of pins 32 slidable within the lugs 30 to engage holes in the bracket 21, the pins being moved by a right and left hand screw actuated by a handle 35. The handle is secured by a clip 37 when not in use. A fairing 48, with a forward opening for the gun, is provided. The rear end of the gun is supported upon a bar 39, Fig. 8, suspended for vertical adjustment by differential screw devices 41 from two arms 42 detachably secured to a bracket 22 beneath the plane. The arms are connected by transverse shafts 43, 44 to brackets on vertical frames 46, 47 bearing at their upper ends beneath the plane. The arms also carry blocks in which pins 32, similar to those shown in Fig. 2 can be moved to engage holes in opposite sides of the bracket 22.
