Abstract
551,783. Thermometers. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., TWISS, D. F., and NEALE, A. E. T. March 21, 1942, No. 3761. [Class 97 (iii)] In the heat treatment of plastic &c. materials which may be enclosed within retaining, shaping or moulding surfaces substances which melt or fuse at known temperatures together with material capable of absorbing the melt of the fusion all enclosed in a protective sheath are introduced between the materials being treated and the retaining &c. surfaces to indicate the temperature attained. The substance, for example, acetylnaphthylamine, which fuses at 130‹ C. may be mixed in powder form with a small proportion of a dye to enhance the indication when fusion takes place and the mixture may be placed between absorbent sheets of paper or textile material, the sheets being afterwards enclosed in a transparent envelope of cellulose acetate which is then interposed between the retaining &c. surfaces say of a mould and the material such as rubber &c. forming a rubber tyre.
