[Class 44] The tapered end 7 of a bolt 6 for securing a window &c. 2 engages a longitudinally tapered slot 4 in the horizontal limb of a bracket 3 secured to the fixed frame 1 the narrow end of the slot being nearer the window, so that, as the end 7 is forced home, it travels towards the wide end of the slot and tightens the window &c. on its seat. The sides of the slot may be bevelled to conform with the taper of the end 7.
