Abstract
548,939. Shoots and hoppers. STEVENS, A. H. (Lindsay Ripe Olive Co.). June 4, 1940, No. 16713. Divided out of 548,937. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group VI] Olives or other fruit are fed by a vibrating hopper-tray assembly 40, 41 to two shoots 100 (see Specification 548,937) down which they roll to mechanism which punches out the stones (see Specification 548,940, [Group VI]. The hopper includes a pyramidal distributing ridge 44. The tray has four U-shaped channels 42, each accommodating one line of olives. Passage from the sloping base 49 of the hopper into the channels is limited to one at a time by a vertically adjustable, rubber-faced, grooved, rotating roller 86. The tray is mounted on webs 51 carried by a plate 52 which is mounted on springs 56 and connected to a magnetic vibrator 53. From the delivery end of the tray the olives pass into a magazine comprising camoperated detents 116c, 117 which release the olives one at a time, whence they roll down the shoots 100. Arms 137 bear on and advance the olives, preventing piling-up thereof in the magazine. The hopper, tray and magazine are adjustable relatively to one another.
