[Class 54] In a gas meter of the kind having a partition dividing the main portion into two main measuring chambers in each of which is a diaphragm dividing the chamber into two and oscillating a spindle by which the valves are operated, the valve plate is provided with elongated ports 28 parallel with the partition and of more than half its length and the valve covers 33 move to and fro in a direction at right-angles thereto.
