Abstract

548,474. Collapsable tubes. WINTERNITZ, L. July, 28, 1941, No. 9576. [Class 66] Collapsable tubes are formed from paper or other non-metallic sheet material scored or folded to afford face portions 1, 2, Fig. 3, and side gussets 4a, 7a, the delivery end having means to engage and retain a metal or other nozzle adapted to receive a screw cap. In the construction shown the nozzle retaining means is adapted to afford an end of tapered form, see Fig. 4, and comprises apertured overlapping flaps 10a, 14a, the wing flaps 19 being attached by adhesive to the under surfaces of the lowermost scored flaps 14α. Fig. 5 shows a form of blank in which closure flaps are avoided; in this form the gusset portions 3, 7 are provided with laps 22 for attachment to the faces portions 1, 2. Fig. 7 shows a tube of conical shape formed by winding a sector-shaped blank, the gussets being afforded by scorings 29. In this form the skirt 31 of the nozzle is engaged between the plies of the material.
