Abstract

546,603. Statistical machines. REMINGTON RAND, Inc. Aug. 16, 1939, No. 1705/41. Convention date, Sept. 3, 1938. Divided out of 546,590. Drawings to Specification. [Class 106 (i)] A machine for sensing master and detail perforated cards comprises in combination mechanism for comparing perforation patterns in preselected portions of such cards fed to the machine punch mechanism for transferring additional perforations from the master to the detail cards, machine stapping mechanism, card conveying means and settable deflectors to conduct the master and record cards to their respective receiving pockets or to prevent their passage to these pockets, actuating means for the punch mechanism and a first control device operable under the control of the comparing mechanism when disagreement occurs between master and detail cards to render the punch mechanism ineffective, actuating means for the machine stopping mechanism and a second control device for it operable under the control of the comparing mechanism, actuating means for the deflectors and a third control device therefor operable under the control of the comparing mechanism and operation selector mechanism including manually settable means adapted to put the punch actuating mechanism, the machine stopping mechanism and the deflector actuating mechanism under the control of the comparing mechanism or to render them ineffective. The card feeding mechanism generally may be similar to that described in Specification 510,910, [Group VIII], and the driving &c. mechanism similar to that described in U.S.A. Specification 2,044,119. The detailed apparatus described is identical with that set out in Specification 546,590. Specifications 546,602, 546,604, [Group VIII], and 546,605 also are referred to.
