Abstract
596,718. Statistical apparatus. REMINGTON RAND, Inc. July 31, 1945, No. 19686. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1944. [Class 106 (i)] In a. record card adapted to receive data indicating perforations for use in controlling a statistical machine, in order to maintain a predetermined area of the card in a condition to permit its being passed through a throat of the machine restricted to permit the passage therethrough of only one card at a time, the area is contained by a boundary about which the card may be folded without encroaching on the area. The invention is particularly applicable to record cards which serve also as cheques (Fig. 2). Lines 23, 24 are printed or scored on the card 13 to indicate where it should be folded in order to avoid bending at the vital central portion of the card which, during the feeding of the card from its magazine 10, Fig. 1, by a picker blade 15, passes through a narrow throat 18 which is set to a width only slightly greater than the thickness of a card.
