Abstract

546,450. Grinding. HERBERT, Ltd., A., and LLOYD, A. H. July 9, 1941, No. 8638. [Class 60] Blanks 16 to be surfaced, particularly die or chaser blanks, are fed by gravity down an inclined shoot past a cup-shaped wheel 11 that engages the blanks through a gap 18 in the side wall of the shoot which is supported at the grinding position by a substantial bracket 17, the blanks being further supported by a top plate 19. The shoot is bent at 15 to clear the other side of the wheel and may convey the blanks past a second wheel for grinding the opposite faces. The blanks pass across the face of the wheel at such an angle of the radius that the required rate of feed is obtained. The wheel or its spindle may be axially adjustable and the blanks may be supplied to the shoot from a hopper. Specification 311,731, [Class 60], is referred to.
