[Class 100 (ii)] An apparatus for applying an offset impression in a de-- finite position on a surface which may be flat or curved, comprises an offset pad or roller on which a reverse impression is made, and a frame on which is registered, e.g. by adjustable crossed wires, the position of the print on the pad or roller, the frame being then applied to the surface so that the registered position thereon registers with the position at which it is desired to apply the offset impression and then applying the pad or roller to the surface, the frame serving to locate the pad or roller during the printing operation. In one form, Figs. 2 and 3, an offset pad 16 is fixed in a frame 17 removably mounted on a base plate 18. The frame 17 has pivoted thereto a plate 24 to which is pivoted a frame 28 having pairs of adjustable crossed wires 29, 30. When on the base 18, the plate 24 is in line with the frame 17 so that after an impression is made on the pad in any suitable manner, the frame 28 may be turned over on to the pad and the wires 29, 30 adjusted so that the area enclosed by the wires registers with the imprint. The apparatus is then removed from the base and the frame 28 applied to the surface so that the enclosed area registers with the position at which it is desired to apply the imprint. The plate 24, which has a roughened face 25, is then pressed against the surface, the frame 28 swung away and the pad turned and pressed against the surface to effect the imprint. In a second form, Fig. 7, an offset roller 33 is employed having attached thereto a flexible frame 36 having the crossed wires. The roller is rolled across a printing surface to receive a reverse impression, and the wires of the frame 36, which is wrapped round the roller, are adjusted as in the first construction. The frame is then unrolled and applied to the surface to be printed and the roller then rolled over the surface. In a further form, Figs. 11 and 12, the frame 36 is separate from the roller and has two adjacent sides graduated. The end of the roller and the supporting bail 34 are similarly graduated and the bail is provided with two pointers 60, 61, for co-operation with an index mark 62 on the roller and the end of the frame 36 respectively. An impression is applied to the roller and its position noted by reference to the graduations upon its end and upon the bail. The wires of the frame 36 are correspondingly adjusted and the frame applied to the surface. The roller is then positioned with the pointers registering with the mark 62 and the end 63 of the frame and the roller is then passed over the frame to effect the impression.
