Abstract
541,696. Pectins. WALSH, C. L., and NEWMAN, A. A. June 5, 1940, No. 9859. [Class 121] [Also in Group XXXVI] An electrolyte absorbent for accumulators or dry batteries is precipitated as a plant gel from an alkaline extract of fleshy plants, e.g. Agaves, aloes and sanseviera, by adding excess sulphuric acid or ammonium chloride, and the unabsorbed acid or salt is removed by draining or filtering off liquid and pressing the gel.
