541,647. Delivering tickets &c. automatically from strips. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO.; Ltd., BURNETT, W. E., and DIXON, S. M. Feb. 9, 1940, No. 2527. [Class 27] Coin-freed machines which print a ticket, cut it off from the roll of paper and deliver it on the insertion of the coin, are fitted with special delivery means comprising a pair of rotatable delivery rollers between which the ticket passes and is nipped, one roller being positively driven and the other being pressed against the ticket and rotated by friction therewith. Also retaining pawls or clips are provided to hold the severed ticket from falling after passing the delivery rollers, until it is grasped by the purchaser. Fig. 1 shows a driven flanged roller 2 over which the strip 13 passes. The knife blade 3 is mounted in a vertically-sliding block 4 which also carries a pair of pivoted arms 5 supporting the shaft of the upper roller 6. When the knife descends to cut off the printed ticket from the strip, it carries the roller 6 downwards to nip the strip against the lower roller with a compressive force supplied by the spring 7. The strip is thus fed forward to the spring- controlled' pawls 10 which retain the rear portion until the ticket is withdrawn by the purchaser.
