Abstract
541,377. Injection-moulding machines. DANIELS, Ltd., T. H. & J., DANIELS, J. L., and RUDELHOFF, A. O. May 23, 1940, No. 9138. [Class 87 (ii)] The manually-operated toggle mechanism 18 for opening and closing the mould halves 16, 17 is supplemented by power-operated toggle mechanism comprising a pneumatic or other cylinder 34 within which slides a plunger 36 integral with or connected to a rod 37 supported in bearings 38. The plunger 36 carries a pin 48 on which are pivoted links 47 pivotally connected by pins 48b to links 50 pivoted at their other ends on a stationary crosspiece 35. Also pivotally connected to the pins 48b are links 47a pivotally connected to slides 18a passing through the member 35 and pivotally connected to the manually-operated toggle mechanism 18. In operation, the mechanism 18 is actuated to close the mould halves, and air or other fluid is admitted to the cylinder 34, whereupon the plunger 36 moves to the left and the links 47a to the right. When the air &c. is released from the cylinder, a spring 45 returns the plunger 36 and hence retracts the links 47a.
