[Classes 83 (i) and 83 (iii)'] Casting composite articles.-Centre rests for small diameter work such as that formed from wire stock have thin titanium carbide or similar hard metal strips a embedded in cast lead sleeves b. Holes may be provided in the strips to secure adhesion and the lead may be replaced by a thermo-plastic material. A containing sleeve c may be employed fitted with a hard washer d to reduce wear at the end at which the work enters. A second washer may be employed at the other end but the sleeve is preferably provided with an integral end flange.
